Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using PyMentor ("the App"), developed by BYN Studios, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of service

PyMentor is an educational app for learning the Python programming language through interactive lessons, exercises, real code execution, and AI-generated feedback on the code you write.

3. Use by minors

PyMentor is designed to be usable by students of any age, including minors. If you are a minor, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the app, including to make any in-app purchase.

4. Anonymous identifier

To use certain features (AI feedback, code execution, and saving your progress), the app automatically creates an anonymous identifier.

If you use the app in guest mode, your progress lives only on your device: if you lose it, uninstall the app, or clear its data, that progress cannot be recovered. If you link a Google account, your progress is backed up to our servers and you can recover it by signing in with that same account from another device.

5. Acceptable use

By using PyMentor, you agree not to:

• Attempt to bypass, evade, or manipulate the usage limits of the AI feedback or code execution features (for example, through reverse engineering, automated scripts, or multiple installs to evade the limit)
• Submit illegal or harmful content through the code editor, or content intended to make the AI system generate inappropriate output, or content intended to abuse the code execution environment (for example, to attack or overload the infrastructure running it)
• Use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or overload our servers

6. AI-generated content

The feedback you receive when submitting your code is automatically generated by an artificial intelligence model (Google's Gemini) and is for educational purposes only. It may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should not treat it as professional advice of any kind, and we recommend always verifying code and concepts against additional sources.

7. Code execution

The "Run" button executes your code on an external sandboxed execution service (Judge0, accessed through RapidAPI). We do not guarantee error-free execution, time/memory limits identical to your own computer, or uninterrupted availability of this third-party service.

8. Usage limit (free tier)

The AI feedback and code execution features have a free usage limit. That limit is not daily: it works in seven-day windows that start with your first use and fully reset when they elapse. Unused allowance does not carry over to the next window. The specific limits may change without notice. You can get additional uses by watching a rewarded video (see Section 10) or by subscribing to PyMentor Premium (see Section 9).

9. PyMentor Premium (subscriptions)

PyMentor offers an optional subscription, "PyMentor Premium," that raises the limits in Section 8, removes ads, lets you recover past days' challenges without watching ads, grants PyCoins periodically, applies a store discount, and gives access to exclusive cosmetic items and to the animation of animated cosmetics. Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled from your account settings in the relevant store, at least 24 hours before renewal. You may cancel at any time; refunds are not processed directly by us, but according to the relevant store's policy. We reserve the right to modify the price, benefits, or availability of PyMentor Premium, which will be communicated within the app before it takes effect for new subscriptions.

10. Advertising

The app shows banner ads on some screens to users without a subscription. In addition, you may choose to watch a rewarded video to obtain a specific benefit: one additional use, PyCoins, an extra attempt at the daily challenge, recovering a past day's challenge, or trying an exclusive cosmetic for 24 hours. Watching these videos is always optional and subject to daily caps. We do not guarantee the constant availability of ads.

11. Intellectual property

All course content (lessons, exercises, explanations, text, and images) is owned by PyMentor / BYN Studios or its licensors, and you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it within the app, solely for your personal learning. You may not copy, redistribute, or use this content for commercial purposes without prior authorization.

12. The code you write

The code you write in the editor remains yours. By submitting it for feedback or execution, you grant us permission to process it (including sending it to the Gemini API and/or Judge0) solely for the purpose of generating that response or result, as described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Service availability

We strive to keep the app available, but we do not guarantee it will function without interruptions or errors at all times (for example, if the Gemini, Judge0, RevenueCat, or Firebase service is temporarily unavailable).

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties that the educational content is error-free.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of your locally saved progress.

16. Termination

We may suspend or discontinue the app, or limit access to a feature, at any time, with or without notice.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.

20. PyCoins and virtual items

PyMentor includes a virtual currency, PyCoins, earned by using the app or watching rewarded videos, and used to acquire cosmetic items within the app.

• PyCoins cannot be purchased with real money and have no monetary value: they cannot be exchanged for money or for goods outside the app.
• PyCoins and the items acquired with them are non-refundable and non-transferable between accounts or users.
• You are granted a limited, revocable license to use cosmetic items within the app; you do not acquire ownership of them.
• If you delete your account, you permanently lose your balance and your items.
• Some items are seasonal and are only available during a specific time window. We may open, close, or repeat those seasons at our discretion.
• Premium-exclusive cosmetic items remain in your inventory if you cancel the subscription, but some of their features — specifically the animation of animated cosmetics — only work while Premium is active.
• We may adjust prices, rewards, and item availability, as well as the amounts granted for each activity.
